The World Squash Federation is making it's most concerted bid ever to get Squash to be accepted as an Olympic sport in time for the games in 2016. The bid focuses on the widespread appeal of the game with over 20 million players in 175 countries worldwide and the considerable health benefits from playing squash. The IOC is considering Squash alongside Baseball, Golf, Karate, Roller Sports, Rugby, and Softball as candidate sports for inclusion in the 2016 games. The candidate cities for 2016 are Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
