There were amazing scenes at the Gerrards Cross Memorial Centre on Monday 12th June when some people turned up for the AGM including most if not all of the Committee. The Chairman was able to get the meeting started on time without having to resort to the usual tactic of combing the squash courts/park benches/local hostelries for enough bodies to reach a quorum.
At one point, the furniture had to be re-arranged to accommodate late-comers, though thankfully it was not necessary to ask downstairs in the bar for extra chairs from the back room.
This also left plenty of time to go through the agenda without having to have a philosophical debate on what level a quorum should be set at and we got back down to the bar by 10 pm.
Two years ago we had to have a 2nd meeting to ratify the decisions of the first one when the combing tactic proved unsuccessful!
Talk about a man biting a dog!
