Gerrards Cross first team is celebrating a top-three finish in their first season in Bucks Inter-club League Division 1 following promotion.
If remaining results finish as expected they will finish third, ahead of local rivals Beaconsfield Lions and Beaconsfield Tigers.
The team, skippered by Stewart Hefferman, have won 15 and lost 9 this season, a feat made all the more impressive by the small size of their squad - 6 regulars and no juniors to promote to the first team. Coach Michael Burnett said: "We are all very proud of each other. It was a siege mentality as we came up from Division 2 and expected to be battered every week and go straight back down."
"The guys just knuckled down, trained most Saturdays and the mix of banter and support got us off to a good start the belief just grew from there."
Burnett says although they have beaten every team in the league at least once, they will be looking to consolidate a place in the top flight.
